About the University

The Banaras Hindu University, founded by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviyaji in 1916, is one of the most prestigious Central Universities in the country. BHU is the largest residential University in Asia. BHU is having modern campus with a 1300-acre main campus and a developing 2700-acre campus in Mirzapur. BHU comprises 6 institutes, 14 faculties, 144 departments, and several centers of advanced study. It also hosts Bharat Kala Bhavan, a renowned museum, and a 927-bed modern hospital. The university offers extensive academic, research, and extracurricular facilities, including sports, a flying club, and student services. With around 15,000 students, 1,700 teachers, and 8,000 staff, BHU attracts scholars from across India and abroad, making it a vibrant hub of learning and culture.
