Harbin Institute of Technology

Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), founded in 1920 and known as the “Cradle of Engineers,” is a leading national university in China with its main campus in Harbin and additional campuses and research institutes across several cities. Over 105 years of development, HIT has grown into a comprehensive institution centered on science and engineering, while also encompassing management, liberal arts, economics, and law. Eleven disciplines rank in the top 1% globally in ESI, with Engineering and Materials Science in the top 0.01%, and computer science, chemistry, and environmental science in the top 0.1%. HIT is China’s leading university in aerospace, having established the country’s first School of Astronautics in 1987 and successfully designed and launched 36 satellites. It also operates major space research infrastructure, including SESRI. With a strong international orientation, HIT collaborates with 165 institutions in 34 countries, particularly within BRICS, and aims to further strengthen cooperation through the BRICS Network University to train outstanding engineers.
