About the University

Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KHARAGPUR), established in 1951 in West Bengal India, is an institute of National Importance engaged in imparting highest quality academic programs, research and outreach activities in Engineering, Science, Technology and multi-disciplinary areas of higher education.
There are more than 700 full time staff and 14000 students across UG, PG and Ph.D levels.
Research thrust areas include but are not limited to: Affordable Health care, Green technologies, AI& Cyber physical systems, Precision agriculture and food engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, transportation technologies etc.
IIT Kharagpur was declared an Institute of Eminence in 2019.
