The ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), located in New Delhi, is India’s premier national institute for agricultural research, education, and extension. Renowned as the “Pusa Institute,” it played a pioneering role in ushering the Green Revolution in India, transforming India into a food-secure nation. IARI is home to around 3,000 students and 2,000 staff, with two sub-campuses, student academic partners, and regional research stations across the country. Its alumni include four World Food Prize laureates, reflecting its global impact on agricultural science. The institute’s research and academic priorities span crop improvement, genomics and biotechnology, natural resource management, agricultural engineering, and climate-resilient agriculture—making IARI a leading centre for innovation and excellence in sustainable agricultural development.
