About the University

Located in Xi'an, the historic cradle of Chinese civilization and endpoint of the Silk Road, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) is China’s only multidisciplinary, research-oriented university advancing education and research in aeronautics, astronautics, and marine technology. Affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), NPU has been a key national university since the founding of the People’s Republic of China. It was designated a state key university in 1960, ranked among China’s top 15 in the 7th and 8th Five-Year Plans, and was among the first 22 to establish a graduate school. NPU joined the 211 Project in 1995 and the 985 Project in 2001.
As a member of the ""Outstanding University Alliance,"" NPU is nationally recognized for excellence in graduate employment, Party organization, and education.
