The State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ) has a multi-campus structure spread across the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is a comprehensive state university with approximately 30,000 undergraduate students and 7,000 graduate students, distributed across 74 programs in diverse fields of study. Its staff consists of approximately 3,000 faculty and 5,000 technical staff. It stands out for its knowledge production in biomedicine (biology, ecology, and public health), social sciences and humanities (education, social work, law, political science, sociology, culture and arts), and natural sciences (energy, computational modeling, and high-energy physics). A hospital dedicated to high complex procedures is also part of its structure.
