About the University

Kafrelsheikh University in Egypt was established by Presidential Decree No. 129 on 19 April 2006 to support sustainable development, optimize national resources, and expand higher-education capacity for graduates of secondary and technical schools. Its roots trace back to a Higher Agricultural Institute founded in Kafrelsheikh in 1957 (initially under the Ministry of Higher Education), which became the Faculty of Agriculture in 1969 under Alexandria University and later joined Tanta University after 1973. Subsequent developments included the Faculty of Education (1977), a Tanta University branch in Kafrelsheikh (1983), the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (1985), the Faculty of Specific Education (1988, later affiliated with Tanta by Ministerial Decree No. 1187), branches of Engineering and Commerce (date given as 1920 in the text), and a Physical Education branch (1997). The 2006 republican decision converted these branches into full university faculties.
